CMC is one of the largest and busiest Level 1 adult andpediatric trauma centers in the region with 49 anesthetizing locations and NORArooms. Our faculty fosters robust academic programming while keeping foremostCarilion Clinic's mission of providing excellent care to its community. The position includes an academic appointment at VirginiaTech in the tenure track at the rank of Clinical Assistant, Associate, orProfessor based on the qualifications and experience of the successfulcandidate. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Critical CareAnesthesia, a passion for teaching and research, and a commitment to providingexceptional patient care in a critical care setting. Research interest withFralin Biomedical Research Institute-VT is supported. Responsibilities Provide expert anesthetic care topatients undergoing critical care proceduresCollaborate with multidisciplinaryteams to develop and implement patient care plansPerform pre-operative assessments,including reviewing patient histories, conducting physical examinations, andordering necessary laboratory testsAdminister anesthetic medications,monitor patients during procedures, and make necessary adjustments to ensuretheir safety and comfortProvide post-operative care,including managing pain control measures and monitoring patients' recoveryAct as a mentor and educator,supervising and instructing medical students, residents, and fellows in thefield of critical care anesthesiology, research opportunities if interested Requirements Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctorof Osteopathy (DO) degree from an accredited institutionABA Board certification or Boardeligibility Completion of ACGME accreditedCritical Care FellowshipExcellent clinical skills andknowledge in the field of anesthesiologyAn experienced clinician andeducator with a solid track record of scholarly workGood communication skills,clinical and teaching skillsCommitment to education and adesire to contribute to the training of future healthcare professionals,research opportunities if interestedCarilion Clinic is the largest not-for-profit integratedhealth system in western Virginia, the Shenandoah Valley, and surroundingregions, serving 1 million people.
